Support For Legalizing Marijuana Has Never Been So High

Weed is in the air this 4/20, and not just literally. Sixty-one percent of Americans are now in favor of legalizing marijuana for recreational use, according to a CBS News poll released Thursday.

That’s the highest mark this particular poll has ever found, and it’s not an outlier. Similar surveys taken over the past year have shown that public support for legal cannabis is higher now than it has ever been before.

Widespread acceptance of legalization ― itself a rejection of the longstanding federal prohibition on marijuana ― is a…

Jeff Sessions' Marijuana Policy Is Straight Out Of 'Reefer Madness'

Times have changed, but apparently nobody has informed Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Medical marijuana is now legal in 29 states. Eight states and the District of Columbia allow recreational use, and 61 percent of Americans support legalization.

Yet, as the video above shows, Sessions’ views haven’t evolved. He’s still taking his pot policy straight from “Reefer Madness,” the classically awful 1936 “educational” film about marijuana addiction.

That film shows people who succumb to the dreaded wacky tobacky become…

CBS Poll Finds Support for Legalizing Marijuana at Record High

More than six in ten Americans believe that the social use of marijuana should be legal for adults, according to nationwide polling data provided by CBS News.

The percentage marks a significant increase since 2013, when only 45 percent of respondents endorsed legalization, and it is among the highest levels of public support ever reported in a national poll. Only a majority of those respondents over the age of 65 did not support legalization.

This Video Perfectly Breaks Down The History Of Weed And Racism

Nothing can blow your high quite like realizing weed’s relationship to racism.

Ramsey notes that the stigma behind people of color who smoke weed started a long time ago.

“Weed was originally made illegal in the ‘30s because America has historically been…

Chris Weigant: California Considers Historic "Weed Sanctuary" Status

A bill has been introduced in California’s state legislature which would prevent the state’s law enforcement officers (and any other state resources) from being used to: “investigate, detain, detect, report, or arrest a person for marijuana activity that is authorized by law in the State of California.” The bill is based on a similar bill which would declare California a “sanctuary state” for undocumented immigrants. Either one would be the first of its kind on a statewide level. The marijuana sanctuary bill (AB 1578) would send a clear…

Denver 4/20 in the Trump era: Marijuana celebration or political rally?

There was a time — before the vendor booths, before the concerts with famous headliners, before the documentary crews and before the cannabis tour groups — when 4/20 in Denver meant a simple protest rally.

Eleven years ago, only a couple thousand people gathered in Civic Center park for the annual marijuana smokeout in defiance of state and federal laws. The rally planned for Thursday could hardly look different — 250 vendor booths, tens of thousands expected to attend and the…
