Prominent Utah prosecutor to join medical marijuana push

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill is joining a well-organized push for state lawmakers to pass a medical marijuana bill this year.

The libertarian-leaning nonprofit group Libertas Institute says Gill will speak at a news conference on Wednesday. He’ll join 30 people who want to use the drug to treat medical conditions and are asking lawmakers to vote in favor of a bill from Sen. Mark Madsen, a Republican from Eagle Mountain.
