Pending state medical marijuana rules driving local action



Paradise >> The Paradise Planning Commission’s Monday night vote to prohibit medical marijuana cultivation, distribution and delivery was a response to three new state laws — AB243, AB266 and SB643 — which will go into effect on Jan. 1.

The laws will create a state Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation that will license cultivation, storage and sale of pot. Local agencies are allowed to make their own, tougher rules.
