Other View: Medical Marijuana Worth a Serious Look

The United States is a representative republic, not a pure democracy. If it were the latter, the public would vote on potentially hundreds of issues every year.
Since we’re a republic, we elect officials to go to our state and national legislative bodies, evaluate all of those issues and vote on them on our behalf. Ideally, we elect the people who most closely represent our value systems and trust them to vote on those bills as we would if we were there.
