Antioch council bans cultivation of medical marijuana

ANTIOCH — Residents here who have thought about stocking their medicine cabinet with homegrown marijuana now will have to get the drug from an out-of-town dispensary.

The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a ban on the cultivation of marijuana for medicinal purposes, preventing users from obtaining a state license that would allow them to produce their own supply.

“I don’t condone marijuana,” Councilman Tony Tiscareno said before casting his vote.
