5th proposal earns spot on Arkansas ballot; signatures OK’d for measure to limit medical-suit awards

A proposed amendment to the Arkansas Constitution limiting the noneconomic damages and lawyer fees in lawsuits against medical care providers received enough signatures to be placed on the November ballot, Secretary of State Mark Martin’s office announced Friday.

The proposed amendment joins a proposed initiated act and three amendments proposed by the Legislature on the Nov. 8 ballot, with the potential for two more amendments to be added this month.
