Keeping a plant illegal seems silly when there are plenty of other crimes that go unsolved every year. Medical Cannabis Sales Hit $1.7M in Illinois

The launch of Illinois’ medical marijuana program may not have been smooth, but now that it’s up and running, sales have been brisk.

Between Nov. 9 – when Illinois’ first dispensaries opened – and the end of 2015, medical marijuana sales hit nearly $1.7 million, according to the Associated Press. Grams were sold at between $14 and $15.

Wholesale growers also did well, selling about $1.5 million to retailers, the AP said.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — An all-volunteer effort to gather the necessary signatures to place a measure legalizing medical marijuana before voters in November has fallen short.

Marijuana growers who are worried about high utility bills and bad press generated by the industry’s enormous energy demands may want to check out Boulder County, Colorado, which has found some interesting ways to help cultivation sites reduce their electricity costs.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Federal authorities say six western New York residents have been charged with being part of a drug ring that distributed marijuana between Colorado and Buffalo.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York state Department of Health says the state’s new medical cannabis program will begin on Thursday.

A department spokesman announced the date Monday in response to questions from The Associated Press.

The facility is a contained operation, meaning that the marijuana is grown at the facility and only leaves with a paying customers who possess a medical marijuana card.
