South Dakota Voters Could Decriminalize Marijuana Possession in 2016

PIERRE, SD — Supporters of a proposal to decriminalize up the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana in South Dakota can soon begin collecting signatures in an attempt to place the issue before voters in November 2016.

On Wednesday, as required by state law, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley issued an explanation for the proposed initiative measure and filed his explanation with the Secretary of State, the final step before supporters can begin collecting signatures.
