AZ Rec Cannabis Campaign Files Signatures for Ballot

An Arizona campaign to legalize recreational marijuana on Thursday filed 258,582 signatures with the secretary of state’s office, a week in advance of the July 7 deadline.

The total far exceeds the 150,642 valid signatures required to get the initiative on the 2016 general election ballot.

The Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors has approved a resolution allowing the school’s AgCenter to seek a state license to produce cannabis as part of a recently passed medical marijuana law there.

LA County Extends Medical Cannabis Growing Ban

Los Angeles County supervisors voted to extend a temporary ban on medical marijuana cultivation and distribution in unincorporated areas by one year, dealing yet another blow to MMJ cultivators.

U.S. Supreme Court Won’t Hear Montana Dispensary Appeal

Montana dispensaries hoping for a last-ditch miracle from the U.S. Supreme Court were treated to a bitter disappointment Monday with the news that the justices had declined to hear their case.

The Associated Press reported that the justices let stand a Montana Supreme Court ruling that in effect regulates the state’s medical cannabis industry out of business.

Time is tight for local pot initiative to make November ballot

More than 17,000 people have signed petitions asking voters to decide whether to replace the city’s ban on medical marijuana dispensaries with state regulations, but those signatures still aren’t ready to be turned in to local elections officials.

Jeff Jarvis, a board member at Kern Citizens for Patient Rights, which has spent “in excess of $50,000” on the Medical Cannabis Initiative, said organizers are verifying signatures on their own before turning them in to city staffers.

Maine: Initiative to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol is Question #1 on November’s Ballot

On Monday, Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap announced that the ballot initiative to regulate marijuana like alcohol will appear as Ques10985909_566442143496233_947244275936798915_ntion 1 on the ballot.
